East Coast Transit Adventure

After leaving DC, we embarked on an east coast tour while our belongings were making their way across the country

Our first stop was Sunil's alma mater, which we arrived at by Amtrak and NJ Transit

We then spent a nice weekend with our New Jersey family before heading to the mother of all subway systems in the big apple

Our next stop was Northampton, MA where we went kayaking, played hide and seek on a mountain and raced on a track

Our next stop was Boston where we relived our youth, saw the sights, took a respite from the heat at the Boston Public Library, and met with old friends

They even had a mini Washington monument!

Our last stop was New Haven where Milan made a new friend

Summer 2022 - Birthdays on the Road

The downside of summer birthdays is having birthday parties when everyone is on vacation.

On the other hand, sometimes you end up with multiple celebrations

Celebration #1 was a party in Virginia with friends and family

Milan celebrated his actual birthday in New Jersey and was surprised with a serenade and a cake

Sunil celebrated his birthday in Boston with some tasty vegetarian ramen

By the time Kirin's actual birthday rolled around, we were back in California and able to eat at a local favorite

Kirin also took some of his buddies to the arcade

And we took some birthday photos to commemorate the occasion

Adventures in the DMV - Part 3

Our last installment of our DC adventure involved visitors, White House perks, and some goodbyes

We had a lovely spring break with some of our California travel buddies.  The weather was perfect - until the last day when we all attended a very rainy White House Easter Egg Roll.

We went on more Metro expeditions, scenic bike rides, kayak excursions, and a ropes course!

Milan and Kirin ended 1st and 4th grade and said good-bye to their Arlington buddies

We took visitors for tours of the White House

and the Eisenhower Executive Office building

The VP posed for a photo during Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month

and we got in a tour of the West Wing

Our last weekend in DC, we got to see fireworks from the South Lawn of the White House (which was thankfully much nicer weather than the ill-fated Easter Egg Roll)

and I got to meet the President after he disembarked from Marine One!

We said good-bye to our DC area family

before leaving Union Station for our East Coast transit adventure.

We had such a wonderful and fulfilling year in DC!
