Kirin at 14 Months

After a slow but sure transition to walking, we now have a certified toddler

Kirin at 13 Months

Lucky thirteen (months)

Joint doctor's visit (and 7 shots between the two of them)

Apparently we don't learn and get haircuts right after vaccinations
(no "during" pictures this time, but trust me, there were lots of tears)

Maybe a little more practice before starting with the Prius?

Meanwhile, this kid suddenly looks like he's about to leave home for college

Kirin has been taking steps for over a month now, but is slowly transitioning to walking more and more

Celebrating the Big "1"

Kirin's birthday celebrations started in Oregon, but continued back at home with some treats at daycare.
Unfortunately, when everyone sang happy birthday, it was a bit overwhelming for Kirin, who burst into tears.

Luckily, the tears didn't reappear the next day when we celebrated with friends and family at our home.

Born from the Same Mold, Part 2

Here are pairs of pictures at the same age, Milan first and Kirin second (follow up to this post).  It is crazy how similar they look!  While we can tell them apart, I am guessing they are indistinguishable to more casual observers.

"Vacationing" in Oregon

We went on a vacation with several friends to Sunriver in Oregon earlier in August.

There was a lot of lounging at the pool,

biking around the resort, some skateboarding,

and hiking to a waterfall,

but Kirin's favorite activity of all was climbing the dishwasher.

Family photos at the waterfall, outside a lava cave and near a lava butte

We left the day before Kirin's birthday and celebrated with some cake!
Kirin went for it immediately and gobbled up his piece.

Here's the whole group at the top of the lava butte (6 adults, 7 kids!)

This was most certainly a trip and not a real vacation given our 5 am wake up call every morning from Kirin in the pack n play, but the good company, beautiful surroundings and delicious food made up for it!
